Description below:
This Hospice Massage course offers massage therapists a comprehensive introduction to the philosophy of hospice care and the meaningful role touch can play at the end of life. Participants will explore what hospice truly is, how massage therapy integrates into the interdisciplinary team, and whether this specialized work aligns with their skills, comfort level, and professional goals.
Throughout the course, therapists will:

  • Examine common misconceptions about hospice and hospice massage
  • Learn to recognize when massage is appropriate and supportive—and when it may not be indicated
  • Explore practical approaches for addressing common concerns encountered in hospice settings
  • Build awareness of skin changes, medical conditions, and diagnoses frequently seen in end‑of‑life care
  • Discuss how similarities and differences in disease symptoms influence treatment planning
  • Engage in hands‑on practice through a mock clinic experience to build confidence and sensitivity in providing compassionate touch
  • This training is designed to deepen understanding, refine clinical judgment, and prepare massage therapists to offer safe, respectful, and meaningful care to individuals and families during one of life’s most vulnerable transitions.
  • Please be prepared to give and receive services with a fellow attendee. Attendees should bring in notebooks, sheets, and their preferred cream or oil.
