DESCRIPTION:Class Full – Join Waitlist\nTable Thai Element Theory and Touch Level 1 \nMarisa Incelli\n8 CE Credits\nNCBTMB Approved\n9:00 AM – 6:00 PM\nIn Traditional Thai medicine\, we utilize a system of Five Element Theory as a framework for the individualized creation of treatments\, both physical and esoteric. Those elements are earth\, water\, fire\, wind\, and ether. Earth is our experience of solidity\, water our experience of fluidity\, fire our experience of transformation and heat\, wind our experience of movement\, and either our experience of non-resistance or spaciousness\, unobstructedly. \nWhen these elements are looked at through the lens of their individual qualities\, we use that specific touch that is most uniquely appropriate for the balancing of those elements. It is the individuation of these elemental disturbances in the body and mind and their qualities that assist in the creation of treatments. \nThis course will teach how this framework or lens is applied to the practical application of massage techniques and lifestyle advice for individual self-care for clients. Both theoretical background and specific correlating massage applications to balance each element will be presented at a beginner’s level. Exercises to create a better comprehension of each element and its specific qualities will be presented in an interactive manner. Simple introductory applications are appropriate for a beginner-level introduction to elemental touch. In addition\, this lens can also be applied to a better comprehension of relationship dynamics within the workplace and beyond\, making this course useful not only as a treatment guideline but also as a tool for the individual bodyworker to utilize for self-reflection and proprioceptive awareness. \nLearning Outcomes \n\nAbility to explain the five-element theory to another student as a lens for viewing the body and mind\nAbility to give detailed examples of each element in and out of balance within the body and mind\nIdentify anatomical systems correlated to each element and how they are noticed as in or out of balance\nApply learned knowledge of elemental imbalances to appropriate elemental touch applications\nAbility to incorporate this system and elemental touch into current massage therapies  as enhancements\nIncorporate practice into your normal Swedish routine\, having your clients on the table.\n\nPlease be prepared to give and receive services with a fellow attendee. Continued application and refined understanding of the Thai five-element theory to determine appropriate quality of touch for treatment plans and lifestyle advice as takeaways for clients. Both theoretical and anatomical background and specific correlating massage applications to balance each element will be presented at an intermediate difficulty level\, requiring level 1 to have been attended as a precursor. Continued applications in Thai massage\, including seated and side-lying positions. A range of applications in these positions to add to the applications learned in the supine position of level 1. The additional instructions on the use of hot compresses as an extension of the hand offer practitioners who work on a table exclusively a new tool to use\, adding value to their current practice.Learning Outcomes:\n• students will demonstrate proficiency in the language of the five elements\n• students will demonstrate proficiency in the application of wind as a quality of touch\n• students will demonstrate proficiency in the application of fire as a quality of touch\n• students will demonstrate proficiency in the application of water as a quality of touch\n• students will demonstrate proficiency in the application of earth as a quality of touch •students will demonstrate proficiency in side-lying applications of Thai massage to legs\, glutes\, hips\, spine\, and shoulders\n•students will demonstrate proficiency in seated applications of Thai massage to the spine\, neck\, and shoulders\n•students will demonstrate proficiency in the utilization of clothed and or draped use of herbal hot compresses as an extension of the hand in massage. \n \n\n\n\n\n\nPlease be prepared to give and receive services with a fellow attendee.
